Networking EyeCOR

Running EyeCOR through your network keeps all files in one location and updating is done on only one computer.  No need to update each workstation individually.

STEP 1 – Share the Nteon Folder

If the entire Server drive is not shared you must share EyeCOR’s Nteon folder.  To do this:

  • Go to “My Computer”
  • Select the drive containing the Nteon folder (by default this is the C Drive)
  • Right click the “Nteon” folder
  • Select “Sharing and Security”
  • Check “Share this Folder on the network”
  • Type the Share Name as “Nteon”
  • Check “Allow Network users to change my files”
  • Click “OK”

Note:    If the Server OS is Windows Server ALL USERS NEED FULL CONTROL to this folder – Contact your Network Administrator for these directions.

Step 2 - Map the Nteon Folder to the Workstation

Follow these steps only if the entire Server drive is not mapped to the workstation.

  • Right click on the “Start” button
  • Click on “Explore” (or Open Windows Explorer)
  • Click on “Tools” (This is located in the menu at the top of the window.  If it is not displayed then hold down the ALT key and press the letter T to display the drop down menu)
  • Click on “Map Network Drive”
  • Click the down arrow next to the letter Z and select the “N” drive (if it is not currently being used)
  • Click the “Browse” button
  • Navigate to the Server computer Click on the “Nteon” folder to highlight it only
  • Click “OK”
  • Make sure “Reconnect at logon” is selected
  • Click “Finished” – this will open a new window with the Contacts-Resource folder showing
  • Close both windows and install EyeCOR for the Workstation

Note:  If the N drive is already in use select another drive and be consistent on the other workstation and use the same drive letter.

Recognizing the fact that some Network Administrators do not like to share out the C:\ drive of the server it is OK to share and map the NTEON folder to the workstations.  If you do this you will need to remove NTEON from the Contact-Resource.ini file.  When sharing out the drive or the NTEON folder it must be shared with FULL read/write access to all users.
